Bear mascot costumes: how to choose the right one

Why a bear works almost everywhere

Bears are among the most popular animal mascots — and for good reason. A teddy bear is friendly, recognizable from across a room and welcome everywhere: children’s birthday parties, kindergartens, toy-store openings, Valentine’s Day promotions and family days at malls. A strong, confident bear is also a classic sports team mascot. In this category you’ll find teddy bears in pastel and classic brown, polar bears, pandas and character bears dressed for a role — a ballerina, a wrestler, a musician or a traveler with a suitcase.

Faux fur, color and silhouette

Most of our bear mascot costumes are covered in faux fur; some use fleece, smooth fabric or sequins for a stage look. The round, huggable teddy shape comes from a padded vest worn under the faux fur jumpsuit, so the performer stays mobile while the bear looks soft and full. Light and pastel furs look adorable in photos but show dirt sooner than brown or black — worth considering if the costume will work outdoors every weekend.

The head and what the performer sees

Each head is built on a shaped foam frame, often with closed-cell PE foam inserts, and covered with the same fur as the body. Depending on the model, the performer looks out through mesh eyes or through the mouth; the product card always says which. For entertainers who move among children all day, a clear view matters — compare the viewing area of the models on your shortlist.

Staying cool in a furry bear costume

Faux fur is warm, and a bear is one of the furriest costumes there is. Some bear models have extra ventilation openings in the mouth or eyes. For summer events, indoor play centers and hot climates, ask us about a fan in the head or a cooling vest worn under the suit, and plan short breaks for the performer.

Make the bear yours

Most bears in this category can be made in a different faux fur color, with a T-shirt or jersey in your team colors, or with your logo on the outfit. Sports clubs, brands and venues often go one step further and order a bear designed from scratch: send us your crest, logo or sketch and you’ll approve the design before production starts.

Care

After every event, let the head and jumpsuit air-dry away from heaters, brush the fur in the direction of the pile and keep the costume in its cover bag. Care instructions come with every costume and say which parts can be washed and how.

Bear mascot costume questions

Can you make a bear in our team or brand colors?
Yes. We can change the faux fur color, add a jersey or T-shirt in your colors and put your logo on the outfit. For a bear designed from your crest or logo, see custom mascot costumes.
Is it hot inside a bear mascot costume?
It’s warm, like any faux fur costume. Some models have extra ventilation openings; we can add a fan in the head or supply a cooling vest. In hot weather, plan short breaks for the performer every 20–30 minutes.
Do you have panda and polar bear mascot costumes?
Yes — pandas and polar bears are in this category, next to classic brown and teddy bears. Koala mascots are in Wild animals.
