Mascot costume ideas for every kind of event

With 953 ready-made characters in our catalog, choosing is the hard part. Here is how event agencies, brands and venues usually narrow it down.

A good mascot is chosen for its audience, not just for its looks. The same costume works very differently in front of toddlers, teenagers or a stadium crowd. Before you scroll through the catalog, answer four questions:

  1. Who is the audience? Small children love soft, friendly faces and bright colors; older children and adults respond to humor and to characters with a clear role.
  2. Where will the mascot work? Indoors at a mall or a hotel, or outdoors in the sun? Long outdoor shifts call for a ventilated head and regular breaks.
  3. How often? A costume for a one-day launch and a costume that works every weekend for an agency need different priorities.
  4. What is the budget? Our mascot costume price guide shows real prices for every section of the catalog.

Kids’ parties and family events

Friendly animals are the safest choice for young audiences: bunnies (62 models), bears (57) and cats (57). They are easy to recognize, they photograph well and they don’t frighten the youngest guests.

For themed birthdays and shows, look at fairytale and fantasy characters (116 models): unicorns, gnomes, friendly monsters, robots and snowmen.

Brand promotions and store openings

A mascot that looks like your product is remembered better than a leaflet. The food and drinks section (35 models) has characters for exactly this: a slice of pizza for a pizzeria, a donut for a bakery, a hot pepper for a spicy-food restaurant or a banana for a fruit shop. In objects and symbols (65) you will find a tooth for a dental clinic, a drop for a water company, a lamp, a sun and a sunflower.

For services, people and professions (278 models) covers doctors, bakers, firefighters, pilots, astronauts and many more.

If none of them is close enough to your brand, we can make a character from your logo — see custom mascot costumes.

Sports clubs and schools

Classic team mascots are strong, fast or proud animals. Look at wild animals (220 models) for lions, tigers, wolves, foxes and horses, and at birds (45) for eagles, falcons and owls. A catalog model can be made in your club colors, or we can design a mascot from your crest.

Holidays and seasons

Seasonal characters pay for themselves only if they arrive on time, so start early:

  • Christmas and New Year — 28 mascot costumes: Santa Claus, reindeer, snowmen and Christmas trees;
  • Easter — 65 mascot costumes, mostly bunnies, plus a chick, a hen and a lamb;
  • Halloween — 17 mascot costumes: witches, a bat, a dark cat and a friendly skeleton.

Models made to order take 7–14 days to make, plus delivery to your country — so for a December event, order in autumn.

Big shows, parks and museums

Large silhouettes work best where people look from a distance. Dinosaurs and dragons (31 models) and sea animals (22) — dolphins, whales, a shark — are favorites of parks, aquariums and science museums.

Characters that work as a team

Two or three characters that belong together make a stronger show than one: they can play a scene, greet guests at two doors and cover each other’s breaks. Some combinations that work well:

  • an Easter bunny with a chick and a lamb for spring events at malls and farms;
  • Santa Claus with a snowman and a reindeer for winter fairs and New Year parties;
  • a product character with a friendly animal for store openings — one draws attention, the other plays with children;
  • a pair of fairytale characters — a unicorn and a dragon, or two gnomes — for themed birthdays.

If you order several costumes for one event, send us the list in one request — we will check that the characters suit each other in size and style.

Indoors or outdoors

Where the mascot works matters as much as who it is. For long outdoor shifts in warm weather, choose a model whose head has extra ventilation openings — the specifications on each product page list them — and ask about a fan in the head. Smooth fabrics are usually more comfortable in the heat than long, dense faux fur. For indoor venues with lots of people, think about the size: a very wide costume is hard to move through doors and crowds. Our guide What’s inside a mascot costume explains vision, ventilation and sizes in detail.
